Power Dressing for Corporate Wear and Business Meetings

Dressing sloppily at the place of work is a strict no, no. Every day, employees and executives are scrutinized for the way they dress. A few organizations also have a strict code of dress. Despite all of these rules, there are a few tips you can follow for power dressing. Women’s dresses come with interesting hemlines, dart placements, and other design elements that enhance the formal look. Corporate dressing is no more a drab or out of mode affair. Your tryst with dressing style for office can bring oodles of confidence and enhance your self esteem.

Colors and cuts

Choose shades of blue, tan, beige, grey, white, and sometimes, pink. These colors are most suitable for any corporate environment. So, if you have a casual work culture in the office, these colors are a safe bet. Avoid yellow, orange, and red like plague. Not even include them in accessories. Keep the color palette of the colors to pastels and neutrals as much as possible, regardless of your skin tone.

Sheath, shift, and maxis

These are the kind of one pieces garment that add a feather in the cap to power dressing. Say no to kimonos, capes, leather jackets, and miniskirts, if you want to create a professional impression.    Slim fits, pencil cuts, a-lines, will always be in vogue. Avoid fancy necklines, sleeve designs, frills, fringes, ruffles detailing for corporate wear. Those are the kind of garments suitable for after work party.

Slim fit trousers, denims, and skirts

Denims are still alright over the weekend. Try trousers in cotton and linen. You could also wear palazzo pants with subtle detailing. High waist skirts, maxi skirts, pencil cuts, knee length skirts, are full length skirts are all good. Keep the embellishment details to a bare minimum when wearing a skirt. Forget tank tops, bustier, and tunics, for a corporate wear.

Make up and accessories

Women’s clothing and make up must sync. Follow the same color palette for make up as well as clothes. Keep the lip color to hues of tan, brown, pink, orange, and maroon. Avoid blushers, eye shadows. Smoky eyes are not for office time. Use long stay make up that does not run down. Avoid funky hair colors, if your office does not deal with rock music. Hair accessories can be avoided as much as possible.

Shoes and bags

Online shopping stores have heavy discounts for the right size of shoe and style of bag that fit you. Espadrilles, stilettos, peep toe pumps, wedges, ankle boots are great for corporate wear. Avoid knee length boots unless it rains in your area.
